GSF Car Parts sees surge in job applications as it recommits to manager-led model

1st November 2024: GSF Car Parts, the UK’s fastest-growing car parts distributor, is reporting record interest in vacant roles for Branch Managers, Operations Managers and Sales Advisers created by its market-beating business expansion.

The surge in applications began following last week’s announcement that sales at GSF are up more than 20% year-on-year over the first nine months of 2024. Enquiries since spiked again earlier this week after an unexpected change in operating model was announced elsewhere in the sector. GSF says its own growth trajectory will create the infrastructure for up to 500 new roles across the business over the next 12 months.

Steve Horne, CEO of GSF Car Parts, commented: “I can reassure everyone that in a changing market GSF remains completely committed to our manager-led model. We place huge trust in our branch managers to be entrepreneurial, to make smart decisions and to lead local teams that deliver results.

“We firmly believe that local relationships form the heart of our customer-centric ethos, and create the best opportunities for team members to enjoy their work, perform and progress.”

As new technology offers increasing scope for automation and centralisation, GSF Car Parts believes garage customers are now starting to value personal service even more, not less. GSF promises a ‘performance culture’ with progression opportunities for all who consistently excel.

Martin Gray, Chief People Officer at GSF Car Parts, commented: “We have been flooded with messages from branch managers and sales advisors as some players in the sector move to a transactional based model. We have recommitted to our relationship-led model, where staff are empowered to partner with our customers and to manage relationships with autonomy.”

GSF has made huge investment throughout 2024, bringing 15 new green-field branches online, expanding stock availability, as well as improvements to critical infrastructure including vans, phones and PCs. The new National Distribution Centre (NDC) located in Wolverhampton, heralded as a ‘game-changer’, has also made its first branch deliveries this week, ahead of schedule.

Sukhpal Ahluwalia, Executive Chairman at GSF Car Parts, said: “Our people are what makes us different. The relationships with customers go back many years, sometimes even across generations of garage owners. These customers know us personally, they like us and they trust us to deliver great service. They know we’re always prepared to go the extra mile.

“The world is changing so it’s interesting to see some new approaches and ideas but I can promise you GSF will not be implementing any ‘robo-centres’ or dumbing-down our key sales roles. We will not deviate from always putting our people and our customers first.

“All we really need now is more great people to join us and keep driving the amazing growth we’re seeing.”
